Adult Care Workers play an essential role in supporting adults to live as independently, safely and comfortably as possible.
They provide high-quality, compassionate and person-centred care to individuals who may have a range of physical, emotional, social or practical support needs. This could include supporting older people, individuals with disabilities, people with mental health needs or those requiring additional support with their everyday lives.
Adult Care Workers can work in a variety of settings including residential and nursing homes, supported living services, day services and within an individual’s own home.
Throughout the apprenticeship, learners will develop the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours needed to provide safe and effective care while promoting each individual’s dignity, independence, choices and wellbeing.
The role involves working closely with individuals, families, colleagues and other professionals to ensure that care and support is tailored to the needs and preferences of each person.
Throughout the apprenticeship, learners will develop the practical skills, knowledge and behaviours required to provide high-quality care and support.
Areas of learning include:

Learners may work within residential care, domiciliary care, supported living, day services or other adult social care environments.
Typical job roles may include:
Learners must be employed within a suitable adult care role that provides opportunities to develop and demonstrate the knowledge, skills and behaviours required by the apprenticeship standard.
Learners should have a genuine interest in supporting others and be committed to providing compassionate, respectful and person-centred care.
English and maths requirements will be assessed and supported in line with current apprenticeship requirements.
Learners must also meet any appropriate suitability and employment requirements relevant to working within an adult care environment.
The Level 2 Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship is designed to develop occupational competence through a combination of structured training and practical workplace experience.
Throughout the programme, learners will apply their developing knowledge directly within their day-to-day role, allowing them to build confidence and demonstrate their competence within a real adult care environment.
At the end of their training, apprentices will complete an independent assessment to demonstrate that they have developed the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to work competently as an Adult Care Worker.
Assessment will consider the apprentice’s ability to apply their learning within real workplace situations and demonstrate safe, compassionate and person-centred working practices.
Learners will need to demonstrate their understanding of key areas including safeguarding, communication, person-centred care, health and wellbeing, professional responsibilities and safe working practices.
Successful completion confirms that the learner has developed the occupational competence required by the Adult Care Worker standard.
Successful completion of the Level 2 Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship provides learners with a strong foundation for continued development within the health and social care sector.
As learners gain further experience, they may choose to take on additional responsibilities, specialise within a particular area of care or progress onto higher-level training.
Potential progression routes include:
The knowledge and practical experience developed throughout the apprenticeship can also support learners who wish to explore specialist areas of health and social care as their career develops.
At Professional Training Solutions, we work closely with both apprentices and employers to ensure that training is relevant to the learner’s role and the needs of their organisation.
Our experienced tutors provide ongoing support throughout the apprenticeship, helping learners develop their knowledge, confidence and practical skills while applying their learning directly within the workplace.
We understand that every learner is different, which is why additional learning support and reasonable adjustments can be provided where required to help learners successfully progress through their programme.
